Learning
We provide equal opportunities for all children so that they feel valued and they learn respect for their own and others’ cultures and beliefs.
Our staff offer each child individual support and guidance as children progress with their "next steps", working in partnership with parents to ensure continuity between nursery and home. We place importance on taking each child’s individual learning style and interests into account to ensure that they have fun and are motivated to learn and discover and work alongside the Four Themes (see below) each day to ensure that the care and learning we provide is enjoyable for all our children.
POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS – children learn to be strong and independent from loving, secure relationships with parents and/or a key person
ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS – the environment supports and extends a child’s development and learning
Each child has a 'development' folder which contains their personal learning journeys with photos, observations, conversations and their art work.
EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
As our children work towards the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) they grow and develop as individuals. The EYFS is split into the following 6 areas:-
- Personal, social & emotional development
- Communication, language & literacy
- Problem solving, reasoning & numeracy
- Knowledge & understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Creative development
You can discover each area in more detail by selecting from the menu on the left.
LEARNING JOURNIES
Each child's development is recorded in their individual Learning Journey folder. Each personal folder contains photos, examples of work and records of their progress throughout nursery, detailing key events as those first steps and any masterpieces they may have made. The folder is available to take home after they have left nursery and can be viewed by proud parents at any time. Photos of each child are also uploaded to our secure online photo album which is protected to ensure that it can be viewed only by parents to keep them up-to-date on their child's progress at nursery.
